  2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
2 sticks oleo
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
  Instructions
  Sift together sugar, flour, salt and soda and set aside in large bowl. Melt together oleo, cocoa and water. Bring to a rapid boil and then pour over dry ingredients. Beat then add buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Bake on edged cookie sheet or broiler pan for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.
ICING: Bring to boil 1 stick oleo, 4 tablespoons cocoa and 6 tablespoons buttermilk. Add 1 box powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon vanilla and 1 cup chopped nuts. Spread on cake while warm.

this is an execellent cake, I got the reciept from my mother years ago and used it the whole time my kids were growing up. Somehow I mislaid it and thanks to you and Lucy, I found it again.
